As the ongoing government shutdown continues to affect households across the country, many families are feeling the strain of lost wages and reduced access to essential food assistance programs. In response, select Carl’s Jr. locations in Southern California are stepping in to offer relief to their communities.
Akash Management LLC, a major franchise operator of nearly 300 Carl’s Jr. restaurants throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire, has launched a special meal promotion aimed at easing food security challenges. Beginning November 1 and continuing throughout the duration of the shutdown or while supplies last, participating restaurants are offering a kids meal including a kids hamburger, small fries, and a kids drink for just $1.
The offer is available to families and individuals who present either a federal government employee ID, military ID, or a SNAP or EBT card. No additional purchase or sign-up is required, making the meal easily accessible to those experiencing sudden financial hardship due to suspended paychecks or disrupted benefits.
Akash Management CEO Amir Siddiqi said the company felt a responsibility to help during a time when many local families are struggling. “Our commitment has always been to the neighborhoods we serve,” Siddiqi said. “In moments like this, being a good neighbor means stepping forward… If this helps even a little, that is what we are here to do.”
Siddiqi emphasized that the effort is rooted in community connection and empathy. “We live here. We work here. We raise our families here,” he continued. “When our community is under stress, we feel it too. A warm meal at a fair price can offer a moment of comfort during uncertain times, and we believe that matters.”
With many federal workers facing their second missed paycheck and families reliant on food programs experiencing delays and disruptions, even small acts of support can make a meaningful difference. For many, the Carl’s Jr. program offers not only a meal, but also a reminder that local businesses are stepping up to help their neighbors through a challenging time.
